Interviewing An Agent

When most people go about selling their home they don't put much thought or time into choosing the right agent. They might go into a brokerage and speak with the first person that sells Etobicoke houses for sale. Or they might take a recommendation from a friend. But hiring an agent to list and show your home is as important as hiring them to do any job for you and you should treat it as such. You don't need to conduct a full interview but should definitely have some questions before signing on with one individual or another.

Start by making a list of the things that you would want from your perfect agent. It should include things like how they are going to advertise your listing, any advice that you might want to help you sell your home, and their expertise when compared with other Saskatoon or Bradford real estate agents. There are now many agents that specialize in one type of home or neighborhood. You also might want to think about how much experience you're looking for. Remember that going with a seasoned agent is not always better.

Once you have discussed all of your options it's time to go out and start talking to agents. When you go into an office of local or Bolton real estate agents you will likely be assigned to or approached by one agent. If you want a choice of whom you're going to interview than you should do some research first and ask for them by name. You can do that by looking at their website or seeing what types of homes they have recently sold and for what price.

Choose about three agents that you're going to interview and have a list of the sort of questions you want to ask. Don't just look for the right answers but also how you communicate with each agent. You should be on the same page when it comes to how you envision showing your home and the marketing strategy that you will pursue. They should be knowledgeable about local or waterfront homes PEI based and you should feel confident taking their advice.

There are many different ways that agents work. Some will only take a few clients at a time so that they can really give each the attention that they need. Others will take any listing that comes their way in the hope or being a Saskatoon or Oakville real estate agent with lots of sales in their name at the end of the year. Talk to some of their past clients if you want to know what sort of agent you're dealing with. You will want someone who's available for both you and potential buyers whenever necessary.
