Leaving A Good Impression

It can be tough job hunting. It's hard no matter what your situation is. It doesn't matter if you're in high school looking for a job to pocket some weekend spending cash, or you're in university and need help paying tuition, or you need a second job because your portfolio has taken a dip because of some bad leveraged ETFs. Needing a job and getting a job are two completely different beasts.

You can hand in so many cover letters and resumes or fill out so many applications, be they for a GTA airport taxi company or retail clothing store, and not hear back from anybody. It's not that your resumes aren't top notch. It's mainly due to the fact that there are so many people applying for the same position you are. When filling out an application or handing in a resume at a Mississauga dentist firm or fast food chain you should be aware of your competition.

Pretend that every job you want, there are at least 25 other people who want it too. Kind of scary thinking about all those people applying for the same position you want isn't it? There's only one position to fill. So how can you leave a good impression and increase your chances of landing that rollformer job you so desperately want and need?

Whether you're handing in a resume or taking part in a job interview you should always be cordial and make sure to smile. No one wants to hire someone with a bad attitude or who's rude. Don't show up to an interview dressed like a slob. Pyjama pants are not workplace attire. You don't have to wear a suit or evening gown to your interview but you should put on a dress shirt or blouse and some nice pants or dress. Something that would be business casual.

Make sure you're prepared to answer any questions the interviewer asks. Even if you don't know the answer, make an attempt. No one wants to hear the words, "I don't know." Try to think outside the box if you're stuck answering a question about team building drums. On the flip side, ask some questions yourself. Show them how interested you are about the company. That inquisitiveness will show them that you really do want to work there.

If you follow the above tips we mentioned then leaving a good impression will be a success. We wish you all the luck in the world on your job search!
