Open House Day Expectations

When you hire a realtor to put your home in the Mississauga real estate listings, you naturally expect the realtor to do everything. And although they will do most of the legwork for your upcoming open house, there are still things that you will be expected to do to keep up your end of the bargain. If you don't do them, you'll be rendering the open house worse than useless. We'll tell you what they are so you're not surprised on open house day and running around trying to get ready.

Clean and Declutter

Buyers will not consider Edmonton townhouses for sale that are not clean when they go to view them. This is because a lack of cleanliness suggests that the previous owners have not cared for the property as they should. So start cleaning several days before the open house and do the property from top to bottom - floors, walls, windows (inside and out), fixtures, surfaces, and decor. You should also remove any excess furniture, your family photos, and any eccentric decorating touches you have out.

Yard

When buyers look at Long Branch real estate, they're not just looking at the home but the whole property it sits on. If your yard is a weedy, overgrown mess, buyers will only see the amount of work they have to do to make it presentable. So make sure your lawn is mowed, your greenery is trimmed, your flower beds are weeded, and the kids' toys and yard implements have all been gathered up and put away. It also won't hurt to reseal any asphalt or concrete and repaint or retain decks, stairs, and fences.

De-Pet

You may love your pets, but you can be sure that visitors to your Vaughan houses will not. Having pets lingering about the house is a turnoff. Some buyers may be frightened of your animals, some disgusted by their messes, and others allergic to their dander. Therefore for the duration of open house day your pets should be boarded elsewhere. Remove all traces of their presence as well, including feeding bowls, litter boxes, cages, and shed hairs during your cleaning process.

Leave

And finally, all there is to do is leave. It's not just your children or your elderly parents that need to go away either, it's you and your spouse too. No one wants to look at homes for sale in Thornhill with a critical eye when the owner is hovering around them, defending their house or décor choices. So let your real estate agent do his or her job and go visit your relatives for the day. The open house will go much more smoothly and you may even get a few offers.
